Equipping for Life for a better future

Noel Lamont: Volunteer Tutor at Malvern PS

Noel, a retired single person from Jordanstown cared for his mother until 2019 when she sadly died.

A man whose DNA is embedded in music, he worked as a peripatetic instrumental tutor for the North Eastern Board. He worked in various venues but consistently at King’s Park PS.

As a talented viola player in a string quartet, he has performed at various functions and is now involved with the Whitehead Community Orchestra which has grown under his shared leadership. The orchestra puts on occasional concerts to raise money for charity.

Passionate about travel to Austria and Scandinavia, Noel has become a proficient speaker of Danish.

Over twenty years he has served intermittently as Churchwarden in his local Parish Church of St Patrick’s. When Bro. David spoke about EfL at St Patrick’s Noel answered God’s call for volunteers because his parents were both from the Shankill. From there his father won a King’s Scholarship to attend Methody and pursued his love of music.

Noel is now an EfL volunteer tutor at Malvern PS. He finds this volunteering role a positive experience and very rewarding. He thrives on the inter-action with his two pupils and the fellowship of other volunteers in the group.
