Equipping for Life for a better future

Carole Sleator: Volunteer Tutor in Malvern School

Carole was born and nurtured in Trillick, Co Tyrone. She is proud of her rural origins and indeed the countryside is dear to her heart.

Having completed her education in Enniskillen she moved to Belfast to start work as a medical laboratory technician in the N.I. Tissue Typing Laboratory which served the BCH Renal Unit, a world renowned centre for kidney transplantation. She remained here until retirement.

She soon married Norman and moved to Newtownbreda where they raised their two children. Carole loves her garden birds, working in the garden and strolling through the parks and local beauty spots.

She is a member at St Finnian’s Church, has completed the Bishop’s Bible Certificate and the Resourcing Pastoral Carers Course. She helps in the church kitchen and Messy Church.
When Bro. David asked if she would be interested in helping in EfL, and explained that it wasn’t necessary to have a teaching background, she signed up eager to help inner city children and serve God in this way.

Her P2 and P6 children at Malvern PS add sparkle to life! Working with EfL allows an ordinary person to improve the children’s literacy, social skills and develop awareness of Jesus.
